Mary Derrick-Manis

Dr. Mary Derrick-Manis is an assistant professor (clinical) in the Department of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah, where she teaches Tests and Measures as well as Musculoskeletal Management. She is also a PhD candidate studying the acquisition of pain beliefs in health providers, is a research assistant for a health services research laboratory, and teaches musculoskeletal physical therapy.

Mary has taught in a variety of residency and fellowship programs, including the Evidence in Motion Residency and Fellowship (Bellin College) and the Kaiser Permanente Northern California Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy Fellowship and Orthopaedic Residency.

Clinically, Dr. Derrick-Manis focuses her practice on treating patients with persistent pain as part of multidisciplinary pain programs. She also has expertise in the adaptation of manual therapy techniques for nontraditional provider body sizes. She obtained her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at Texas State University in 2013 and graduated from the Evidence in Motion Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy Fellowship program in 2016.
