About this Certificate Program
This certificate program provides a guide to the OASIS-E1 tool, covering all sections and items. To collect accurate data, clinicians must have a working knowledge of key concepts and terminology unique to the OASIS tool. This course offering provides an overview of how OASIS data collection impacts both patient care and agency performance. This certificate concludes with course 11, which provides practice coding scenarios to test knowledge gained in the previous 10 courses.
Target audience
This certificate program is applicable to all Home Health clinicians, including RNs, PTs, OTs and SLPs.

OASIS-E: Sections A-F 4 ItemsOASIS-E1: Introduction to Key Concepts Course
Chapter 1: Impact of OASIS
OASIS data impacts the clinical quality and financial performance of home health agencies. This chapter will provide the clinician with a working knowledge of what happens to OASIS data after it is completed.
Chapter 2: OASIS Instructions
Accurate OASIS data collection requires clinicians to have a working knowledge of the official instructions for each item. This chapter will examine the OASIS guidance manual and how quarterly Q&As; factor into data collection.
Chapter 3: Key Definitions
As OASIS is a discipline-neutral data collection instrument, the terms used do not always align with how clinicians are trained to assess patients. This chapter will address key definitions in practical terms to set clinicians up for success with OASIS data collection.

Chapter 1: Section A: Patient Tracking Sheet
This chapter will address the items that make up the “tracking sheet” in Section A (M0018–M0066).
Chapter 2: Section A: Ethnicity, Race, and Language
This chapter will address the OASIS items related to ethnicity, race, and language in Section A—items A1005, A1010, and A1110.

This chapter will address OASIS items related to payment, SOC/ROC, and the completion of the assessment—items M0150, M0030, M0032, M0080, M0090, and M0100.

Do I have to complete the courses in order?
It is not required that you complete the courses in order. Each Certificate Program's content is built to be completed sequentially but it is not forced to be completed this way.
