1. Differential Diagnosis of Parkinson’s Disease
Parkinsonism is a cluster of disorders caused by damage to motor areas including the basal ganglia. Therapists must be able to recognize the motor symptoms related to idiopathic Parkinson's disease and how these differ from each of the Parkinson-plus syndromes. This chapter provides the therapist advanced knowledge in differential diagnosis of the client with Parkinson's disease and related disorders.
2. Outcome Measures for Use with Parkinsonian Syndromes
Appropriate care of the client with Parkinson's disease is based on a thorough and accurate examination. This chapter prepares the therapist to select and use appropriate examination techniques, including the selection of outcome measures, across all stages of the disease.
